an unpublished print that contained a
grayish green ground and a black horizontal stripe. Motherwell subsequently
added the brighter green rectangular U

that would be framed in a new Kulicke
product called Plas-Par-Tout.
The linear Open forms in this work
were rendered in charcoal with a strip
of white acrylic paint applied along the
right vertical line. The sheet of paper
was mounted on board and encased in
the Plas-Par-Tout plastic wrap, which
was removed from the work in 2009 to
arrest discoloration caused by the direct
contact of the plastic with the paper.
