comments
This collage contains the same kind
of patterned German wrapping paper
that Motherwell had been using in his
collages since 1943. The title of this
work was later forgotten by Motherwell,
but when he saw it for the first time
in many years at the Andrew Crispo
Gallery in 1977, he remembered it to be
The Pink Mirror (Tallmer 1977, p. 16).
