comments
This work is related to the mural that
Motherwell was commissioned to paint
for the main entry of the Congregation
B’nai Israel synagogue in Millburn,
New Jersey. Regarding the iconography
of the mural, see the Comments for
Wall of the Temple (p114); the mural was
first painted in a blue harmony similar
to the colors in this work.
