Delos (Engberg and Banach 2003,
no. 525) are both related to a 1990
painting on paper, Study for Memory of
Delos (w722). An unfinished late painting on canvas employs similar imagery
(see p1208).
Both the title and the imagery of
these works refer to the stone phalluses
on the Stoivadeion temple dedicated to
Dionysus on the Greek island of Delos.
