This work was selected from a
series of six collages for inclusion in the
Soria book; all the collages in this group
include a stenciled fleur-de-lis motif
that was rendered with sprayed paint.
Numbers 2–5 in the series were later
used as maquettes for numbers II–V
in the 1988 French Revolution
Bicentennial Suite print series (Engberg
and Banach 2003, nos. 383–86).
