An early version of this collage was
photographed in March 1976 (Sloman
photo no. 393). Sometime after that,
Motherwell repainted the rectangle
near the right center black, over its
original blue. The work was in its final
form when it was photographed again
in March 1977 (Sloman photo no. 565).

music in it, which is from Mozart’s
