The title of this collage refers to an
“M” (tourist class) luggage label
from the Compagnie Générale
Transatlantique (the French Line) that
is affixed to the brown envelope near
the lower center. Next to it is a label
from V. A. Claessens Belgian artist’s
canvas. Motherwell had sailed on the
French Line to Europe in 1960 (see the
Comments for The French Line, c124).
