comments
The title refers to an early state of this
work, in which the horizontal form at
the bottom was painted green. In the
earliest state of this collage (reproduced
in Andreae 1968), the central white
element had not yet been added. The
painted white area at the bottom was
added after 1983; that area was still
green when a studio inventory photograph was taken in 1983.

comments
The title of this work refers to the
label from a watercolor block made by
Sennelier, Paris; it is probably the same
block that Motherwell used for a series
of paintings on paper (w272–w288).
