The Greek lettering cited in the title
of this work refers to the Greek script
on the rectangular piece of white paper
at the center of the composition, which
is part of a carton or shipping box for
Papastratos, a Greek brand of cigarettes. Motherwell may have acquired
it when he traveled with his family to
Greece during the summer of 1965.
